Our “Why”: The TrainMovePlay Mission + Goal

Our Mission

After age 40, you might notice your old routines don’t keep you in shape, you are more prone to injury, and staying healthy is tougher. We provide individualized workouts that change day to day, and year to year, to keep you feeling strong, moving well, and living with confidence.

Our Goal

We understand how frustrating it can be when you can’t to do the things you want and need to do. As parents and business owners, we can relate to the difficulty of prioritizing your own health.

We are professional trainers with over 20 years of experience helping people, just like you, regain, maintain, and improve mobility. Our goal is that when you come in contact with TrainMovePlay, whether for a long-term training relationship, or a one time workshop, you walk away feeling…

  • inspired to live a more healthful life;
  • empowered to voice and prioritize your own health and well-being needs;
  • emboldened to step outside of your comfort zone; and
  • confident that there is an accessible path to better health that fits you.

The Evolution of TrainMovePlay

Martin’s Story

Martin leading movement

Martin Moesgaard was born and grew up in Denmark, a small Scandinavian country with a high emphasis on healthy living. Martin’s approach to fitness training is informed by the Danish foreninger model.

Danish foreninger are associations, or clubs, that provide recreational sports and fitness opportunities for people across the life span.

Having grown up within the forening model, Martin has seen that fitness is something that really improves quality of life, and is something that we can all access throughout the different seasons of our lives – we just have to find the right training option for each person at that stage of their life.

Martin has a Master’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science and wrote his thesis on the biomechanics of the knee joint. He is glad to have received a solidly science-based foundation for his work as a Personal Trainer.

He says, “I guess I geek out on the science a bit – the science around exercise, just like everything else, is changing all the time, so I am constantly researching techniques that could be useful with a particular client.”

Martin’s movement background includes gymnastics and tumbling, parkour, slack-line, movement culture, yoga, and more.

Sarah’s Story

Sarah Downs Moesgaard was born in Lexington, Ky, USA and moved to Denmark in 2017.

Sarah has a Master’s degree in Modern Dance, and certifications in yoga (Yoga Alliance), pilates (Pilates Method Alliance), acroyoga (Acroyoga Montreal), and Thai bodywork.

She combines her body knowledge into Small Group fitness and yoga classes, and one-on-one assisted stretching sessions that change day to day, and year to year based on the needs of our clients.

Movement for All, Movement for Life.

Our Story

Our motto is, “Movement for All, Movement for Life.”

“Movement for All,” means, movement for all people, all experience levels, all stages of life, all goals…

Some of our clients’ goals include

  • lift a specific amount of weight on a barbell,
  • learn a specific skill, like a pull-up,
  • regain mobility after a knee surgery,
  • regain stability after hip surgery,
  • maintain the hobbies and activities they love,
  • prepare now to age well,
  • feel better and more capable in their body.

“Movement for Life,” means, finding the movement YOU need to live YOUR life well. It means something different for everyone. Which is why we don’t have cookie cutter workouts or routines.  Life is different from day to day, year to year, and so are our training programs.

Find the movement YOU need to live YOUR life well.

What makes us different?

We are not afraid of incorporating unconventional things and we don’t believe one protocol fits all. At the end of the day, health and wellness training is an art, not a science.  And while we use the science and lean on best practices, we train the person in front of us.

We have a combined 40 years of training people from children to seniors, so we have a confidence that has taken us a few years to earn.  It allows us to be more creative and responsive, and take each day and each session as it comes.

The people who come to TrainMovePlay all have one thing in common – they want something different; not a boring, cookie cutter routine.  And not a class of 50 people all getting the same cues and directions.

We are unconventional, science-based, creative, responsive, experienced, and confident.

Our clients say…

The one comment you’ll read over and over in TMP reviews and testimonials, is that we really listen to our clients’ needs – their goals, their expectations… and we provide something valuable for each of them, as their needs shift day to day, and year to year.

We want clients to leave each session feeling like

  • they were heard,
  • they worked hard,
  • they were challenged in some ways and
  • successful in other ways,
  • like they did something new today – something they hadn’t done before.

Most of all, we want them to leave feeling like this time was really valuable for them.

We are currently based in Lexington, Kentucky. When we aren’t working, we are chasing our little boys on the backyard trampoline or planning our next trip. Check out our social media (we are TrainMovePlay and TrainMovePlayPT everywhere) for up to date info.

At TrainMovePlay, we currently have three options for fitness training. Personal Training is for people who want the 1-on-1 attention of the trainer and a completely customized experience. We have Buddy Training and Trio Training options, too, for those who want an extremely personal experience, but want to train with partners, family members, or friends. Learn more about Personal Training in our article, What Can a Personal Trainer Do for Me?

Small Group Fitness is a great choice for those of us who like the energy and community of the group. Since the pandemic, Small Group Fitness has become a hugely popular alternative to larger Group Fit classes. Read more about how we do Small Groups in our article, FAQs: Small Group Fitness Training.

We also offer private yoga sessions. Contact us through the form on our home page for more info. If you’ve never experience a yoga session, you might find this article, What is Yoga?, helpful.
