TAKE ME THROUGH THE STEPS FROM "I'M CURIOUS" TO "I STARTED TRAINING TODAY!"

The Process

How does one get from, “I am curious about Personal Training,” to “I started working with my trainer today!” In 3 steps:

  1. Reach out
  2. Conversation
  3. Schedule

1. Reach out!

After looking through our website, TrainMovePlay.com, our socials, or talking with a current client, we hope you have decided to contact us!  You can do that by

2. The Conversation

We always start with a complimentary consultation. We set a time, usually 30 mins, where you will

  • find the gym
  • see the space and equipment
  • meet our trainers in person
  • review your past experience, including injuries, workouts and programs you’ve tried before
  • discuss your general lifestyle, ie. Do you have a sedentary job, are you traveling a lot, etc.
  • discuss your fitness and lifestyle goals, ie., Why are your here?
  • touch briefly on barriers to your goals
  • talk about scheduling
  • bring up anything else you would like your trainer to know about you

3. Schedule

Together, we will look at our services, and decide which service is the best fit. You may be able to get started as soon as this week!

If you decide it is not for you right now, no worries and no pressure. We want fitness training to be a good fit for everyone, so if we can recommend a better fit for you, we will.

How long is a session? How often should I come and when?

Sessions length and frequency

Personal Training sessions are 60 minutes long. We, in accordance with the World Health Organization, recommend that adults ages 18+ should do…

  • at least 75–150 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity [per week, and]
  • should also do muscle-strengthening activities at moderate or greater intensity that involve all major muscle groups on 2 or more days a week, as these provide additional health benefits.

We meet the WHO guidelines, when you invest in 2 Personal Training sessions per week, so that is usually our recommendation.

Depending on your goals, availability, budget, and needs, more or fewer weekly sessions could be the best plan.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? DO I HAVE TO SIGN A CONTRACT?

Your Investment

Your monthly investment is based on how many sessions you want to attend per week:

  • 1 session per week is an investment of $258/month
  • 2 sessions per week is an investment of $505/month
  • 3 sessions per week is an investment of $715/month

*We also have plans for Partner Training (2 people together) and Trio Training (3 people together.) Specificy those options on the “Start Here” form on our Contact Us for more details.

What is within the scope of practice for a personal trainer?

A personal trainer can…

      • assess your current fitness level
      • guide you to identify and prioritize your goals
      • maintain accountablity and motivation
      • facilitate the formation of new health habits, ie., set a workout schedule or program
      • identify your limitations and contraindications, for example, exercises that are not suggested for you
      • identify which exercises will help you reach your goals
      • explain the technique of exercises for efficiency and best gains
      •  monitor your technique for safety
      • create modifications for exercises when you are injured, tired, sore, or in need of more challenge
      • explain equipment and how to use it
      • help you find the optimal weight, reps, and sets for an exercise
      • inject variety into your workouts to keep you challenged
      • help you regain and maintain overall health
      • work with your Physical Therapist to facilitate your exit from therapy, ie., your PT “homework”
      • help you acquire a specific skill, like a pull up
      • help you reach a specific goal, like completing 10 push ups in a row

A personal trainer is not…

      • a medical professional – diagnosing medical conditions and injuries is outside of the scope of practice for a trainer. For these, your trainer will refer you to see your doctor. We can also recommend a trusted chiropractor and/or a physical therapist.
How should I prepare for my first session?

Before you arrive,

  • please set up your client account and password on our website
  • fill out any forms
  • sign the waiver
  • bring a water bottle
  • dress in comfortable, breathable clothing – you WILL sweat
  • plan to arrive 5 minutes early to put your things down, use the restroom, and “switch gears”
  • read this article on mindset to start preparing.

When you arrive,

  • parking is available along the front of our building, or along National Ave. or Walton Ave.
  • please leave all personal items, including phone, keys, extra layers of clothes, bags, etc. in the cubbies and hooks
  • fill up your water bottle
  • you are welcome to stretch on your own, or use the bike or rowing machine to give yourself a light warm up.

After your workout,

  • stretch or cool down, if you have time
  • there is a changing room for your use
  • drink lots of water throughout the rest of your day
  • take time to notice how your body feels and moves, for the rest of the day and the next day.
What happens if I have to miss my scheduled session?

Consistency is key to success. But life happens!

If you need to miss your session, just contact us to reschedule and we will find another time within the current month to make it up.

Knowing early allows us to offer that spot to someone else who may be on the waitlist, so please contact us at least 6 hours before your scheduled time, or as soon as you know you will miss your session.

Cancelations within 6 hours of your start time are considered a late cancel and cannot be made up. (Emergencies excluded.)

The best way is to text (859) 333-9402.
